My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? Psalm 42:2
When you think about someone being in God's presence, what image comes to mind? What kind of a relationship do you envision existing between that individual and God? What characteristic demonstrates depth in a relationship between two individuals? Isn't it the desire to be together and to spend time sharing with one another alone? Doesn't a love relationship, characterized by intimate time alone demonstrate this best? God loves you and wants to spend time with you alone. He wants you to know Him intimately.
When people love each other, they develop a more intimate relationship with one another. You can tell a person's relationship with God by examining their prayer life. What does your prayer life say to you about your relationship to God. What does it say to God about your love for Him? His love for us draws us into an intimate relationship with Him.
Do you daily desire to be in God's presence? Do you hunger after God? Do you thirst for the living water? Do you want to experience the fullness of joy that being in His presence brings? He invites us into His presence so that we may fellowship with Him. Prayer brings us into His Holy place, into His Holy presence. Praise God! We can come into His presence without fear. In Christ and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God And a great King above all gods, In whose hand are the depths of the earth, The peaks of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for it was He who made it, And His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Psalm 95:1-7
Let us enter into His Holy presence, through prayer, and experience His love for us today.
